Night Night Help from Parents.com-Must Share :)
Yes, yes, daytime naps are important for toddlers. But a new Canadian study finds that it's nighttime zzz's that are most necessary for developing self-control, memory,creativity and problem-solving skills. Makes sense, says Kira Ryan, co-founder of Dream Team Baby Sleep Consulting, a company that counsels parents on sleep issues. "Nighttime sleep is when the most prolonged stages of REM and deep sleep happen, allowing the brain to process basic functions." To help ensure your peanut gets the most night- night possible, follow these three rules;
1.GET THE TIMING RIGHT
Toddlers should be hitting the sack between 6 and 8 p.m., and sleeping 11 to 12 hours a night. If your tot is nowhere near this schedule try making gradual changes to his routine.
2.WAKE LATE-NAPPERS
"Your toddler should be up from his afternoon nap for three to four hours before bedtime to make sure he's tired, but not exhausted, when it is time to turn out the lights." says Ryan.
3.DON'T RUSH THE TODDLER BED
"It's best to keep children in their cribs until two and a half or three years of age." says Ryan. "If a toddler is able to move around his room, sleep can be more challenging."
(Article compliments of August 2011 Parenting Magazine-Article by H.P)
This has been soooo helpful to us with our 1 year old as she thought a late day nap was going to be an every day occurrence. Which then made bed time an absolute fight until we started making her nap earlier in the day then go to bed by 8 p.m. Now we all get better sleep and more of it :) Hopefully it was helpful to you as well!!

New experience
Well tonight was a new first for Tegan and Me and Daddy really. We had a little boy stay the night. Now we do have a nephew that stays the night a lot but he is also almost 4 years old!! This little boy is only 3 months old!! And he loves to be snuggled which Tegan was not so into! She wanted to be snuggled and she started acting like a little baby all over again when she saw Vinny acting like a little baby :) It was really cute and fun for the most part until Tegan decided it was time to throw a fit and wake Vinny up and then it was far from fun trying to get her and him to sleep at the same time!!
Tonight really made me realize that I may talk about wanting a baby all the time!! And trust me I REALLY REALLY REALLY!!!! Want another baby!! But after the way tonight went I realized that Tegan is still a little baby (only faster, bigger, and crabbier:) ) And so right now I think that I am OK with just my little baby girl, my little snuggle bug and baby bun all to myself and all by herself because I do not have the sanity for 2 babies!! 2 little kids wanting to be held, loved on, played with, carried around, bounced on your knee, fed, etc, i think that is enough examples...2 babies needing all that at the same time not to mention the biggest CHANGED!!! is more then i think i am ready to chew right now and for a little bit! Eddie and I have talked about trying next spring or summer so I have a little while to get Tegy out of diapers and ready to be a Big sister!!
But I am kind of starting to worry about her. I know all kids walk when they want to but she doesn't even kind of act like she wants to walk! She is totally and completely content with crawling and could care less what any one else things because she thinks it is just fine if she wants to crawl for the rest of her life!! But Mommy is starting to get a little concerned! It doesn't help that i have people commenting constantly (it feels like) about her not walking yet! I mean lots of kids don't want until they are between 14 and 18 months and she is just a little over 13 months!! I mean come on! And not to mention I am totally fine with her not walking yet! And the people that keep making the comments (that are COMPLETELY GETTING ON MY NERVES!!!) keep hearing me say the same thing over and over and over again!! That I DO NOT WANT HER TO WALK!!! ya that's right I DON'T WANT HER TO WALK because I know how little girls can be and I know how I was and I am just now getting close to my parents again and I see my niece who is 20 doing it to her parents...Kids RUN from their parents from the time they learn to walk until they are about 30!! And I enjoy the dependency she has towards me when it comes to getting around and such! I mean she can crawl isn't that enough?? I don't get it!! I mean really what is it any one Else's business when MY daughter walks!! I mean come on!! I tell you what I am really thinking about just locking my baby girl and my family in my house and not letting anyone else in EVER!!! I mean honestly my next child I swear I am getting black thick curtains and I am getting REALLY REALLY big locks on my doors and shutting off all phones until my next child is about 15 lol!!! Maybe then i wont get so damn irritated at other peoples comments because I wont be able to hear them!!
Sorry I am really rambling this time! I think it has been a long day and I am in need of some sleep!! :)

Sillyness
Sillyness pretty much explains how Tegan acts day in and day out lately! She likes to ride the dog like he is her personal horse, she likes to scream at the top of her lungs and then look around to see if anyone is looking at her and my personal favorite is when she decides to laugh every time she hears someone else laugh!! She is so animated too. She likes to walk around the house "talking" on the play cell phones we have laying around the house. And she mimics everything I do! Be it using hand sanitizer or coughing she loves to copy me!
Ludo is in the dog house no pun intended but I just DO NOT know what to do anymore! He has been chewing up Tegan's toys, he chewed up a new pair of high heels and a wallet and a hat of mine! Then this morning he chewed on the handle of Tegan's rocking horse that is really a fluffy dinosaur! He is so frustrating and we have NEVER had a problem with him before as far as chewing goes! He has slept in bed with us from the day we brought him home and just recently he has started sneaking out of the bed in the middle of the night and then has a hay day with Tegan's toys!!! I do NOT want to lock him in the basement in his kennel all night especially since it is getting cooler at night and our basement isn't heated at all! But if he doesn't shape up that is what is going to happen! I think I will let him sleep in our bed tonight but if he goes on a snacking spree tonight he is going to be spending LOTS of time in his kennel all alone! He is such a good boy and I know he is not even 2 yet and he is a boxer so they can be rowdy and he has been such a perfect boy so far just recently he has started chewing on anything and everything he can get his mouth on!! So everyone keep your fingers crossed that we can get him under control!!!
The last month has been amazing as far as marriage is concerned. There for a while Eddie was working out of town all the time and it was pretty annoying I do not get how the single moms out there can do it! It was really hard being a stay at home mom with my husband gone 4am monday morning through thursday around 6pm and i was the only one here with tegan all alone all week! I really respect the moms out there that do it all on there own all the time!! Eddie being home has really helped with lots of things! We both have been eating better and spending lots of time together! I just need to stop going out with my friends and cousins so much! I think more time with my husband and daughter will be the regular around here from now on! That is one of the reasons I love Winter so much!!

Wow how time flys
A year ago I would never imagine the joy i would still have in my heart for this beautiful little girl named Tegan Rae. The 1st time i looked in her eyes I knew she would be the most amazing thing that i would ever give the world, the most pure thing i could offer a world that needed so much happiness. And I saw all the happiness right there in that little wrinkled up face in 2010.
Now it is a year later and all i can think of is the day she was born. Everyone tells you that the pain is worth it, you wont even remember the pain once that beautiful baby is in your arms, And I now know they were all right. 100% correct! I remember every single detail of August 24th 2010 but for the life of me i can not remember the pain at all! I remember the fear, the joy, the worrying of the unknown but most of all i remember the joy on my husbands face when he brought our little girl over to me still strapped to the c-section table. I remember the "Mommy High" that allowed me to move myself around when the nurses sat there in shock because apparently I should have been in to much pain to move! I remember I only got mad 1 time during the 3 day stay in Mercy Hospital. I got mad because they kept coming to get Tegan from our room and I wanted MY baby in MY room in MY arms! So I went to get her! :)
My Husband has been the most amazing father a little girl could ask for! The fathers of our nieces and nephew well lets just say they pretty much suck at life and when looking at Eddie, he may not always be picture perfect dad but as far as Tegan and I are concerned he is Father of the Year!!!! We are both very lucky to have him in our lives and we are both blessed with having him here everyday never leaving to go out with friends because he would rather be here with Tegan and I then anywhere else. And unless we are out of town racing for a long weekend (Which we dont take tegan along for) He spends every moment he isn't at work being a great dad, husband, son, brother, brother in law as well! He is amazing!! I am very lucky and so is Tegan!!
Well, Our baby girl is 1 today. And as i put her to bed with the usual singing of You are my sunshine followed by daddy rocking her and then putting her to bed, i can't help but remember what a looong night we had a year ago and how every second since then has been a gift from God and how I can't imagine my life without her!
